Shells on the ground
Posted by: Dan Craig on May 27, 2009 at 12:10PM EST
This isn't really newsworthy, but it's interesting.

I like to walk once in a while. I know -- weird, right?

People drive by staring. Kids honk and scream out their car windows at me. It's like they've never seen a pedestrian before.

The really strange thing is that I have found evidence that at least one other person at there is walking, too.

Twice in the past, I have found spent shotgun shells on the ground. Once in front of Natrona County High School and once in front of the CY Albertson's.

I may have moved here from the big city of Chicago, but I've lived in the South, too, and finding spent shotgun shells in busy areas is not the norm in either.

What gives?

While out running or cycling I occasionally encounter the same sort of things, both in terms of the shells and the vehicular heckling.

The shells I can deal with. Guns and the common carrying/use of them are just more common here. The heckling, though...it's a shame people can't embrace the pedestrian lifestyle a bit more.
