Is any publicity for Wyoming athletics good publicity?

Any national attention is good for Wyoming football, right?

For a program that is trying to step up to notoriety (see: Quick 7-6 season, bowl victory in Dave Christensen's first year and big changes to War Memorial Stadium) seeing their helmet on ESPN almost daily seems like a pretty good deal.

That's what UW is getting from Scott Van Pelt and Ryen Russillo on the Scott Van Pelt Show. Most have seen the helmet and have seen or heard the two's love for UW quarterback Dax Crum, or at least they love his name.

Seems all in good fun to me, but UW starting QB Austyn Carta-Samuels told me yesterday he takes some exception to it because he doesn't want UW to just be a team that people laugh at.

What do you think? Is he taking some good-natured fun and national attention a little too seriously or does he have a point in feeling a littel bit disrespected?

Would love to hear your thoughts.

Now off to scrimmage No. 1 of the fall.

I heard the Svp show in its entirety yesterday. It was a lot of fluff but it was positive fluff for the most part. If Pokes fans expect Ryen and Scott to break down the 4-3 defense and the impact that Gabe Knapton is having and DE this year then you were disappointed. Exposure is a positive particularly on a national network that is based out of CT and never ventures past the Mississippi except to tell us how great USC is. Pokes fans should embrace SVP show for what it is and be happy they are talking about us.
