Do you obsess about how your butt looks in your jeans? Do you pass on activities because you're self conscious? Do you cringe when you look in the mirror? These are just a few of the questions the Natrona County Eating Disorder Task Force and the Healthy Life Studio, in Casper, are asking area women to consider. The two groups are teaming up to offer a workshop entitled, "You Are Not Your Butt," 7 - 8:15 p.m. Oct. 21 at The Healthy Life Studio, 235 S. David St., Suite B, in Casper. The event is for National Love Your Body Day, which is Oct. 21. Led by Healthy Life Studio's Abigail Steidley, a mind and body coach, and Jess Ryan, a certified yoga teacher, the workshop will help people to love the way they look, without diets, spin class or plastic surgery. A $10 donation for the workshop is optional. To register, go to www.healthylifestudio.com or call 307-472-1962. For more information on National Love Your Body Day, contact the Natrona County Eating Disorders Task Force at 268-2231 or visit http://loveyourbody.nowfoundation.org/.

Playing tennis is an great way to stay in shape at any age, and with the beginning tennis class offered through Casper College community education, it's affordable, too. Dale Nurnbirg, director of tennis at Wyoming Athletic Club in Casper, will teach the six-class series starting Oct. 12. The cost is $50 and equipment is provided. (You need to have appropriate shoes, though.) The classes will be held at the indoor tennis courts at Wyoming Athletic Club, 455 Thelma Dr. For more information, call Heather at 307-268-3399 or see http://www.caspercollege.edu/community_ed/index.html. I interviewed Dale for a story I wrote on tennis for Live Well Wyoming last summer and he seemed like a very knowledgable and patient instructor. If I didn't work Monday nights, I'd take the class, too. Read the story to learn more about the health benefits of playing tennis.

Health and Human Services and the U.S. Department of Agriculture unveiled a new food safety Web site for consumers this month. Food safety information from across the federal government is consolidated onto one site: www.foodsafety.gov. There are prevenative tips, alerts on recalls and news updates. Right now people can sign up for e-mail or RSS alerts on recalled food, but in the future they may be able to get the alerts through texts or widgets, too. People will be able to download the widget and promote it on their Web sites. It gives updates on the latest food safety recalls. September is also National Food Safety Month. One of the educational tools is food safety myth busting. For example: Lemon juice and salt will clean and sanitize a cleaning board. To learn more, go to http://www.fightbac.org/content/view/245.
